This is a (mediocre) flash fiction blog now
It's been a while since I've posted a blog post, and a lot has changed! I am no longer a Product Manager at a B2B start up. Like all good stories, at least for B2B start ups, it was acquired, and after a short stint at a larger tech company I decided to leave the product management life behind and dive head first into software development. It's been just over a year now, and it's going very well! I'm learning a ton, exploring new tech every day, and building great apps and programs!
I thought I'd revisit this blog earlier than I have, and explore my transition from being a Product Manager; helping a team of developers make something amazing, and turning into actually being part of that team as a software developer that makes the product line by line, but to be honest that sort of content just didn't spark any creativity in me. Don't get me wrong, it's super interesting, but just not something I was inspired to write about. So since this blog has been quiet for so long, I thought I'd take the opportunity to explore another passion of mine, creative writing!
In 2021 I took part in National Novel Writing Month, and managed to write a 50k manuscript that was not super great in quality (it was my first time trying!), but a ton of fun to write. Since then I've gone on to write a few short stories, but kind of lost that writing spark as life got busy professionally, and there was a move somewhere along the way, along with a marriage (and now expecting a little baby in November!). All that to say, up until recently it's been a while since I've properly written something creatively, and I'd like to take this chance to turn this blog into somewhere I share little snippets of my writing from time to time in the form of flash fiction!
Flash fiction, as it sounds, is short fiction, usually under 1000 words, but can be as short as 100 words or less. It's fun, unique and a great way to flex your creative writing muscles without needing a ton of time. I've been on the writing train again for about a month now, but my next blog post will be the first time I publicly share any of my fiction writing! I'm excited to shout to the void of the internet and hopefully as I improve it might inspire others to write as well. My target will be 100 word flash fiction, but that might evolve as I get inspired!
Until next time, thanks for reading!
